Circuswerkplaats Dommelhof wants to develop the circus of today and supports circus authors and artists in creating and sharing their work.
We offer artists all the time they need to develop their ideas, we make financial commitments to projects and trajectories we believe in, and we offer a stage and an audience during showcases and festivals like Theater op de Markt.

Circuswerkplaats Dommelhof is based in Dommelhof: a domain for culture and movement of the province of Limburg, located in the northeast of Belgium. Next to the river and between the trees, we welcome artists to work, to dwell, and to stay during their artistic process.
Dommelhof, founded in the 1960s as Flanders first cultural center that later transformed into a creation center for performing arts, has more than two decades of experience with hosting artists during their process of creation. Dommelhof, as the organization behind Theater op de Markt, is also deeply rooted within the Flemish and the international circus field.
Dommelhof has an excellent infrastructure for artistic residencies. We offer multiple, technically fully equipped workspaces, a large forest park with enough space for tents or other installations, an accommodation with over a hundred beds, and a workshop for metal and woodworking.

AUTHORSHIP
We are genuinely and sincerely interested in the story, the trajectory, and the plans of an artist. Based on this interest, we embark on long-term collaborative projects, with both experienced and aspiring artists, and we co-invest in their individual or collective artistic path.
GROUNDBREAKING
We are committed to ideas, not to preconceived formats or narrowly defined genres. A great idea should not be confined to the limits of one particular genre and dares to look for crossovers with adjacent forms.
IN SITU
With Dommelhof, we have all the know-how and possibilities for supporting creations in the ring, location projects, or interventions in public space.
CONNECTING
We believe that circus as an arts discipline can engage. Being universal, physical, and often non-lingual, in search of a different relationship to the spectator, and outside of the walls of the theatre, circus connects with a (new) audience.
